Eat, Drink, Meet, Relax

Holiday closing:  we will be closed for a week from Monday 16th October, reopening on Monday 22nd October

Light, airy and spacious and open to the ancient rafters, the atmosphere in Juniper Barn café is warm and welcoming. Gather with friends round our big table, read the paper, admire and buy local artwork or enjoy the sunshine outside on the peaceful terrace. We offer a range of hot and cold drinks and homemade food to eat with friends or take away, including dairy free, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options, children's choices, large and small portions – we aim to cater for all tastes and diets. Watch our cooks preparing your food in our open plan kitchen and choose from our all day breakfasts, lunches, puddings and cakes – and if you're lucky, you'll get a 'Katie's coffee' brewed by Geoffrey. We use as many ingredients from local producers and as much seasonal and local vegetables and fruit as possible and our menu is developing all the time.

Summer is over and we have met so many lovely people visiting our lovely area this summer - campers, holiday-makers, locals.  Our autumn menu will be out soon and we are still serving seasonal salads and home-made goodies.  Our Halesworth-made Truly Traceable pies are popular and are made with locally sourced venison and game.  We are excited to be stocking newly available and local Curry Pies in the shop as well as on the menu.

We make all our quiches, sausage rolls and Scotch eggs here in the cafe kitchen and our cakes are made either here or by Pea Green Kitchens in Glemham.  Vegetarian and vegan lunch and cake options are available.

Campers - we provide a campers' hamper which includes everything you might need for a delicious breakfast - and we cater for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans - just ring up and order or email the link below.

Tea and Coffee

Our locally roasted coffee beans are Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance certified which means our coffee tastes delicious and the farmers get a fair price too.

Our loose-leaf tea is blended specially for us and you can buy both our house tea and coffee in the shop.

We also have a range of Novus specialty teas and delicious Italian Hot Chocolate – try our Luxury Hot Chocolate with orange syrup – delicious!  Like a melted chocolate orange…only better.

Juniper Barn is a great meeting place, peaceful, relaxing and lovely and warm.

Charity Giving

We choose a local or international charity to support and we plan to put on special events to add to any donations we might collect. If you'd like more info or would like to suggest a charity you'd like us to support, please tell us!

Reviews from some of our happy customers

The best mince pie I have ever eaten!

Juniper Barn is a great meeting place, relaxing and lovely and warm. .

Wonderful & imaginative food, well-stocked shop & great service - all in a lovely environment.

Whether you're popping in for a spot of tea and cake, or making a real meal out of it(!) you will not be disappointed by this cosy, family-run child-friendly café.
PS. Best decaf soya mochaccino ever!

..very friendly and welcoming, wood fire burning on a very chilly morning sat back and read the papers, perfect!

A log fire burning, the aroma of homemade cooking in the air...... people relaxing and catching up with friends and neighbours......really, really nice.....and very different!!

the best breakfast I've ever eaten in a cafe..

If you're visiting, why not stay a night in our b & b and use us as a base to explore the Suffolk coast, enjoy events at Snape Maltings, Festivals in Southwold, or just enjoy the charms of the peaceful Alde Valley.
